The visual artist, the artist who works in two or three physical dimensions, tries to capture a thought, an experience, a moment in time, a story, a truth, a mystery, or both –(for surely every mystery contains a truth and every truth contains a mystery) - on paper or canvas or in lumps of clay or marble, using the most evocative array of line, colour, texture, shape, form, and composition possible within the limitations of those static two and three dimensions.

Most of us fail, and keep trying. Some of us get the lines right, the shapes and forms, but not the color. Some of us get the color, but not the lines. A very few get the shapes, forms, colors, lines and the composition, in just the right dance of harmony and tension to fully convey to the viewer, to evoke in the viewer, the same truth and mystery the artist has experienced.
